67 Burgate
15th - 16th century with ornate carvings

Top of door frame

Notes: This house apparently dates back to the 15th century - though the last owner tells me it has a cellar which is of Roman origin.

I must admit that the carvings look too good to be genuine, and the condition of the wood is also suspiciously good, which makes me think they may not be original mediaeval carvings - but I have yet to find evidence of this.

Any help gratefully received! The house itself is, of course, an original timber-framed house, but often these were embellished by later owners to look more interesting!
